Hello... I found it useful to add a burlap texture filter to the top text layer after all is said and done, and a drop shadow to give it a sense of being taller than the background. Other than that, this tutorial was outstanding. Thank you!

@Yoshizawa: Ahh, I hadn't even thought of a smart object. But that makes sense, for continued usage. Thanks for the update!

Just to mention kinda like an update to this tutorial (which is very interesting in it's own right). Instead of rasterizing the layer's, start by converting Text Layer 1 into a Smart Object (CS2+) then duplicate it, because it's a duplicated Smart Object if you edit one of the smart object's, it'll automatically update any other copied smart object's, giving you a non-distructive workflow for you to change the text easily and not having to start all at the begining if you decide to change the text. The only main difference You'll have to use a Layer mask instead of the eraser brush for the lines. As an added bonus, all of the filter's you apply to the smart filter will be fully editable.

@Kermit: I think it looks VERY much like embroidery, but we're all entitled to our own opinions. Thanks so much for being so nice in the way that you gave your opinion, though - don't worry, I'm not another human being, I'm really a robot with no feelings.

Have a nice day.

I'd call this "out of focus, stripey text". It doesn't look like embroidery at all.

@john: Oops. My fault. I linked to the Micro PATTERNS in this article instead of the BRUSHES. You load it for the erasers just like a brush. So you need the brushes. I have that set available as both, and linked to the wrong one when I rewrote my site a few months back... my apologies! You can find the brushes here: http://www.obsidiandawn.com/micro-patterns-photoshop-gimp-brushes/

Hope this helps! I'll fix it in the article.
