The concepts are still the same. GIMP should have most of the same features, but the way that you go about doing them in GIMP will be different. If you understand enough about GIMP to know what “equivalent actions” you’d have to take in GIMP rather than Photoshop (for example, if I say to make a new layer, as long as you know how to make a new layer in GIMP), then you should be able to follow it.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about GIMP, so I can’t help you beyond that. :(

I’m not sure entirely what you mean. These are patterns. I have instructions for installing both brushes and patterns in my sidebar, under “Getting Started”. Give those a shot, and let me know if you’re still having trouble – and what’s happening.

@ViserExcizer: You downloaded the second link rather than the first one, then. The first download is patterns. The second is for people that can’t use patterns, and still want the images. Make sure you’re choosing “Download the patterns” :)
