Glitter -n- Smoke Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

This set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes is composed of various dustings of glitter and smoke. Several types of glitter, several types of smoke (some cloudy, some swirly), all mixed together. I’ve also provided a few brushes of the smoke on its own, so that you can use it that way, too. (I’ll be coming out with an actual smoke brush set one of these days, but I’m still working on that.) These would work great for space scenes, as the dust looks like various space nebulae. They’d also work great for fantasy (pixie dust, magic, etc etc).

They are all extremely high resolution, with an average size of about 2200 pixels.

To get these to look like they do in my preview image, use the brush on its own layer and then apply an “outer glow” with a strong, bright color.

Rolled Paint Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

This set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes is composed of various shapes of rolled paint – the kind that you roll on with a paint roller, that is. It includes several single rolled strokes, many put together, and also includes some that you can paint your own paint strokes with. This just includes the kind of textures made from a regular roller – no special effect kinds of paint here. They are all high resolution, with an average size of about 2300 pixels.

Scratchout Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

This set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes is composed of various scratches. They could be used for all kinds of things, from creating an erased blackboard kind of effect to anything that you need to put a scratch texture on. They are all high resolution, with an average size of about 2500 pixels.

Speech Bubbles Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

No, I haven’t disappeared off the face of the earth. I’ve been out of town a bunch, though, hence all the quietness and lack of releases. I’m also currently working on painting a book cover, and under a pretty tight deadline, so I haven’t had a lot of free time. Expect things to pick back up in another week or two.

This release has been requested several times now, so I thought I’d finally get around to making a set.

This set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes is composed of various shapes of speech bubbles. It comes with both the bubble shape itself and a second brush for adding an outline to that bubble, if you so desire (see the preview image for what I mean).http://www.obsidiandawn.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=1936 They are all high resolution vectors, with an average size of about 2000 pixels.

Bokeh Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

This comes from several requests that I’ve gotten in the last few months. Some of you will know what bokeh is, and some may not. But ALL of you have seen it at one point or another, as long as you look at photographs or watch movies. Check out the preview image below for a visual example.

Bokeh is a Japanese term used in photography. It is used to describe the qualities of the area of a photo that is out of focus, and is used to help draw your eye to the subject of the photograph. Some pretty cool things happen with bokeh, too, and that’s what these brushes will help you to create. Also, keep your eye out for a bokeh tutorial that I’ll be coming out with, hopefully in a few days.

This set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes is composed of various bokeh designs. It comes with several brushes for painting your own bokeh, as well as some that are already put together into scattered groups like the ones you see in my preview image. Some are circles, some are polygons, some are more blurry than others. They are all high resolution, with an average size of about 2000 pixels.

Glittery Swirls Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

And finally, some brushes again. Here’s a set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes composed of various glittery swirls and flourishes. If any of you remember my “Dangling Glows” set, many of the swirls are made up of similar types of glows, while others are comprised of glitter and sparkles. They are all extremely high resolution, with an average size of about 2100 pixels.

This set combines the ideas of two of our most popular sets here at Obsidian Dawn: Glitter and Swirls & Flourishes II. Hope that you enjoy!

Snowflake Vectors Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

Happy New Year!

Just wanted to let you all know that Obsidian Dawn’s releases might be a bit slower for a month or so. We’re relocating/moving in a few days (not the website, my house), and I’m not entirely sure when we’ll be settled in at the new place. Things should pick up again in February or so. Also, there will be no CDs available until that time, either. I just won’t have the time for it, sorry! Check back in February!

A set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes composed of various snowflake shapes, all as vectors. These are all very high resolution, about 2000 pixels in size.

These brushes are composed of various shapes of snowflakes. Some are perfectly symmetrical, some are more roughly hand “drawn” (much like those unique real flakes!).

Frost Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

A set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes composed of frost shapes. These come in several different types. First, you have a few icy and frosty frames to frame photos. Also included are some single frost shapes – the standard feathery shape. There are also some that are in the shape of lines, some swirly frost shapes, and some pre-made frost textures that you can just click once to create some frost. Lastly, we have lots of brushes that were made to paint the frost in textures. These are so easy to use, and you can use them to create your own wintery frost textures! (They are, in fact, what I used to create the textures brushes and the frost frames.)

No releases next week, as I’ll be out of town for Christmas. For those of you that know me or have been following my blog posts for a while, I just wanted to let you know that the hubby is back home from Iraq safely – and here to stay for at least a year! What a Christmas gift, eh?

Nuts Transparent PNGs

Obsidian Dawn brushes have been used in a book trailer for “Calling Mr. Lonely Hearts” by Laura Benedict, published by Ballentine Books. You can view the trailer for Calling Mr. Lonely Hearts here. The brush sets (and commercial licenses for those sets) that were used are Arcane Circles and Birds (Flying).

And now on to today’s release!

This set of nuts as transparent PNGs can be used in any program that will support *.PNG files. Photoshop, GIMP, PSP, and many more. These images are average about 600 x 600 pixels in size @ 300 dpi.

These metal nuts images are taken from various angles. Several are from above and several are from a 45° angle.

Flower Sketches Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

A set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes composed of various flower sketches. Most are around 1700 pixels high or wide, so they’re very high resolution.

All of these were drawn by hand, so they won’t be symmetrical like our Flower Vectors Photoshop & GIMP Brushes were. They have a sketched look to them, as well. Within this set you will find many various flowers, including a few on stems.

Christmas Lights Transparent PNGs

This set of christmas lights as transparent PNGs can be used in any program that will support *.PNG files. Photoshop, GIMP, PSP, and many more. These images are extremely high resolution, with the average size being about 800 x 3000 pixels @ 300 dpi.

For those that don’t need high resolution, I have a low res version, where the images are about 400 x 1500 pixels.

These come in strings of lights, horizontal and vertical… long and short… the large bulbs and the small ones. There’s even two sets of christmas light borders. All of them are transparent, with the backgrounds already removed and ready to be copied/pasted into your own designs!

Christmas Ribbons & Ornaments Transparent PNGs

We’re getting into the Holiday spirit early this year here at Obsidian Dawn, to give all of you some extra time to work on those Christmas designs. There’s more to come along these lines, so make sure you’re subscribed to our RSS or our Newsletter!

This set of dangling christmas ornaments and ribbons as transparent PNGs can be used in any program that will support *.PNG files. Photoshop, GIMP, PSP, and many more. These images are extremely high resolution, with the average size being about 1300 x 2500 pixels @ 300 dpi.

For those that don’t need high resolution, I have a low res version, where the images are about 800 x 1600 pixels.

The ornaments and ribbons come in all kinds of combinations of red, green, gold, and silver. Some ornaments are on their own, some with ribbons, and some ribbons are on their own so that you can mix and match to your <3's content.

Exposed Brick Transparent PNGs Images

This set of exposed brick as transparent PNGs can be used in any program that will support *.PNG files. Photoshop, GIMP, PSP, and many more. These images are extremely high resolution, with the average size being about 2800 x 2800 pixels @ 300 dpi. That being the case, they are broken up into two downloads.

The first download are all of the red bricks, and the second is made up of the multicolored, more grayish bricks. Alternately, for those that don’t need high resolution, I have a low res version, where the images are about 800 x 800 pixels.

These images are made to look like the plaster (or other wall material) has chipped away and is revealing the brick wall beneath.
