Arcane Runes Photoshop & GIMP Brushes

Posted in: Brushes | Tags: , , , , , .

A set of Photoshop & GIMP brushes composed of various arcane or magic runes. These are all original designs, although some are based off runes and symbols from other sources (alchemy, mythology, etc.).

I’ve gotten numerous questions asking if these have any meaning. Since I made them up, I’m afraid they don’t… but that means that you can assign any meaning to them that you want!

These are the runes used to make our popular Arcane Circles Photoshop & GIMP Brushes.

Tip: Apply an outer glow to these using a strong, bright color to make them look like they’re glowing like in my preview image!

I downloaded this but the file wouldn’t open — it said it was damaged or something…do you have another link?

    • Stephanie says:

I just downloaded it and opened it just fine when I went to check it. Sometimes downloads can get corrupted. Try once again?

If you’re still having trouble, I can email you the file if you like.

I am still learning how to be creative and expressive through my art, however I have improved greatly in the past three to four years. You have been such an inspiration as well as the influence that fuels my passion for art. Thanks for the brushes and I hope to show you some of my work in the near future.

  13. WTF? That’s not runes! Did you ever saw Futhark? No? Yeah, i see…

    • Stephanie says:

If you’d looked more closely at my stuff, you’d see that I have a full set of Futhark runes, actually. These are runes of the imaginary kind. Made up. Fantasy? ;)

  14. Sgt. Donut says:

will these work on CS5 Extended cuz that’s all I have.

  15. indra says:

    thank thats amazing…

  16. Awesome work of fantasy. Credit given, can I use these runes and art on a commercial product?

    • Stephanie says:

Yep. As long as the credit is given right alongside, or within, the product every place that it’s displayed/available. Otherwise, you’ll need a license.

  18. bananna24 says:

they look awesome but i would like to say they dont seem to be working with my photoshop or showing up as the file type that it says on the installation guide thing, is this because my computer is a very early XP vertion? if you could help that would be great :D

    • Stephanie says:

It’s not showing up as either a ZIP file or an ABR file? That wouldn’t be your operating system, no. That would possibly mean you downloaded the wrong thing (I also have the image pack, which is just JPGs). If you could give me more specifics, I can try to help.

      • bananna24 says:

its strange because iv downloaded a few brush packs and they all seem to do the same thing so i dont think iv downloaded the wrong file. I put the brush files into the foldr with all the other brush files for my photoshop CS5 and they dont seem to show up when i open photoshop.

        • Stephanie says:

Are you unzipping them? They should be ABR files once they’re unzipped. If not, that’s the problem. Otherwise, you may have to restart Photoshop, if you’re installing them while it’s open.

Beyond that, there’s NO reason for them not to work. Try choosing “Load Brushes” from the menu where you’d usually select the set, then navigate to the file, and load it that way. See what it says is wrong.

  19. bananna24 says:

Yay! Thankyou its fixed now :D
